Google Chromebook Pixel 1024x682 Google Chromebook Pixel official, a 12.9 inch touchscreen laptop for $1299Rumours were true after all and Google has made the Chromebook Pixel official late yesterday. Featuring high-res 12.85-inch touch display, this Chrome OS laptop has been price at USD 1,299 and is now available on Google Play in US and UK.

Chromebook Pixel has been designed by Google and is clearly the first premium offering in the cheap Chromebook space. Google seems to be aiming at Apple’s Macbook Pro with Retina display with Chromebook Pixel.

Chromebook Pixel features a 2560x1700p touchscreen with 239PPI, 4GB RAM, Core i5 processor, Intel HD 4000 graphics, and five hours of battery like. According to Google, all the usual nitty-gritties like two USB 2.0 ports, a Mini DisplayPort, 3.5mm headset jack, SD card slot, dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and HD webcam are present.

“Packed with 4.3 million pixels, the display offers sharp text, vivid colors and extra-wide viewing angles. With a screen this rich and engaging, you want to reach out and touch it—so we added touch for a more immersive experience. Touch makes it simple and intuitive to do things like organize tabs, swipe through apps and edit photos with the tip of your finger,” Linus Upson, Vice President, Engineering, Google noted in a blog post.

Google is also offering 1TB of Google Drive storage free for three years with every Chromebook Pixel purchase, which itself is more expensive than the device price.

Google is offering two version of Pixel, One with Wi-Fi only connectivity and other with LTE support. The LTE version will go in sale beginning April for USD 1,449. The Chromebook Pixel will also be available via BestBuy.com and you can visit select Best Buy (U.S.) and Currys PC World (U.K.) store locations for hand on experience.
