Not long after Asus announced the ZenFone 2 as the world's first smartphone to offer 4 GB of RAM, and Xiaomi introduced the Mi Note Pro with 4 GB of RAM, now Lenovo unveiled its own handset with 4 GB of random-access memory.

Called Lenovo K80, the new handset will directly compete with the Asus ZenFone 2 not just because it offers 4 GB of RAM, but also because its price and other features are relatively similar to those of Asus' smartphone (which is already available in select markers, including China).

The K80 runs Android Lollipop, sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. The handset also offers LTE, a 13 MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization, 64 GB of storage space, and a very generous 4000 mAh battery. The K80 is 8.5mm-thin, and comes in various color variants, including black, silver, and red.

The handset carries a price tag of 1,799 CNY ($290), and will be available in China starting April 30. A variant with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory will also be released. It isn't yet known if and when the K80 will be available in other markets.

Lenovo K900 benchmark scores surface, competes with Samsung Galaxy S4

Lenovo K900 benchmark scores surface, competes with Samsung Galaxy S4

Lenovo K900, the 5.5″ phablet with dual core Intel processor, was launched at CES 2013 and has been the talk of the town among tech enthusiasts for its impressive hardware specifications. The first benchmark score of the latest flagship smartphone from Lenovo has surfaced and surprisingly, the device rubs its shoulders with the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S4.

Before we get to the benchmark scores, Lenovo K900 comes with a 1080 x 1920 resolution with a pixel density of 400 ppi. The smartphone packs a punch with the latest Intel Atom Clover Trail+ processor, which has its two cores clocked at 2 GHz. The device also features 2 GB of RAM, 13 megapixel Sony Exmor BSI camera at the back and a 2 megapixel shooter at the front.

The benchmark test of the Lenovo K900 reveals that the smartphone is a touch ahead of Samsung Galaxy S4 and the K900 is surely one of the fastest smartphone in the current market. The benchmark test also confirms that the smartphone will feature a 2GHz Quad-Core processor and not a dual-core processor as rumored before.
