Lenovo's ZUK Z1 launches with Cyanogen OS in India

Lenovo backed startup ZUK has launched it's smartphone Z1 in India running Cyanogen OS. The phone is said to feature an optimized user experience with the Cyanogen 12.1 tuned for maximum performance and stability. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD LTPS display, Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5 GHz, 3GB DDR3 RAM and USB Type-C with Gen-1 speeds so 5Gbps, Fingerprint sensor and a 4,100 mAh battery. It's priced at Rs 13,499.

The USB Type-C is Gen-1 which features USB 3.0 speeds this is a first in a mobile,no smartphone has ever featured USB 3.0 with Type-C. The Snapdragon 801 may be year or two old but it is a flagship SoC featured in many flagships like Moto X (2nd Gen), One Plus One etc..It is a 32-bit SoC but it's powerful than a Snapdragon 615 in most models in the price category but Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 Pro's Snapdragon 650 may be competitive for the Snapdragon 801. Rest assured the device will provide a smooth experience.

The frame is built with aluminium and front is covered with Gorilla Glass 3 and back with a non-removable back. The camera is 13 MP Sony Exmor RS 214 sensor with f/2.2 and 5P Largan lens. The front camera is Omni Vision's OV8865 8MP sensor. The back camera is also rather old and used in Moto G (3rd Gen) and Yu Yureka Plus.

The device seems good and perfectly priced and a good alternative to the Redmi Note 3 Pro which is similarly highly speced but with mid-range components of 2016. Thou both strategies are different, the pure feel of Cyanogen compared to MIUI maybe just what makes some buyers choose, Zuk's Z1.

It is available exclusively on Amazon Indiapriced INR 13,499 and starts selling on May 19, 2 PM.
