Moto G4 and G4 Plus launches in India, Priced Rs 13,500

Lenovo's Moto has launched their 4th gen Moto G series, the Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4. Both were leaked earlier, but now it becomes official. The Moto G4 'Plus' comes with Fingerprint Scanner whereas G4 does not. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus comes with Android 6.0.1 out-of-the box.

The Moto G4 Plus is powered by Snapdragon 617 with Octa-Core Cortex A53 cores clocked 1.5 GHz. There are quite a few variants, whats common in all G4 Plus variants is 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge capability, charging 6 hours worth of use in 15mins as quoted by Moto. Moto's Turbo Charger is also bundled with Moto G4 Plus. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner on the front which Moto claims to unlock within 750ms.  It is Dual-SIM device with 4G LTE  and comes with VoLTE.
The major change is the camera, Moto has upped the the game with a 16MP sensor with 1.3µm pixel size and  f/2.0 aperture. The sensor used is OmniVision's  OV16860 , which is from their OmniVision Pure-Cell Plus sensor family. It has the capability to shoot 4K according to OmniVision but is limited to 1080p in Moto G4. The front camera is a 5MP sensor with 84° wide-angle lens.

Base 16GB model comes with 2GB RAM, the 32GB model with 3GB RAM and 64GB model with 4GB RAM. All the models have microSD slot, expandable upto 128GB. So RAM advantage is all that matters. The base 16GB model costs Rs 13,500 while the 32GB model costs Rs 15,000. The pricing of 64GB model is unknown as of now, we will update the price when we get the info.

I don't know why Moto released two models, the non-plus model comes with about the same internals as the Moto G Turbo (2015), but with new exteriors. The camera is downgraded to 13MP sensor and there is no fingerprint sensor. Turbo Charger is not bundled in the box. There are two variants, 16GB and 32GB models, both comes with 2GB RAM. There is no other difference when compared to the 'Plus' model.

All the devices will be available Exclusively on Amazon India with device availability starting today. The competitors for the Moto G4 include Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro and Lenovo's ZUK  Z1. The Redmi features Snapdragon 650 and ZUK Z1 features Snapdragon 801 both of which are more powerful than the Snapdragon 617 in Moto G4 Plus. Moto devices offer pure android with added small features which many users prefer over MIUI in Redmi. That's all we have as of now, we will update the story when we get more info.
