Qualcomm has announced new processor to their series the Snapdragon 820,620 and 618. While the details are sparse about snapdragon 820, the new cpu is said to be based on qualcomm's on architecture called 'Kryo' based 64-bit architecture. Which is based on 14nm process or 16nm FinFET process.Though 16nm is more likely.The transition helps in making the cpu not overheat. The 820 will come with Adreno 530 GPU which further improves on performance of about 40% and power usage improvements of able 40%. This is a significant step for Qualcomm as their previous flagship cpu Snapdragon 810 faced many complaints regarding the over-heating of the processor. Only Samsung's Exynos processor based on 14nm process and used in Galaxy S6 was available as a high-end processor option.There is a new ISP which improves camera color correction,zoom capabilities and dual camera setup.
Qualcomm has also announced Snapdragon 620, a successor to Snapdragon 615 which like 810 had some heating issue.The new chip is Qualcomm’s first to feature a brand new quad core cluster of four Cortex A72 1.8 GHz cores and four more A53 based 1.2GHz cores.The new Qualcomm chip supports dual channel LPDDR3 memory at 933MHz and Adreno 510 GPU which is like 530 will bring support of OpenGL 3.1 and Vulcan API.
