AUDI teams with Samsung and LG to build a high capacity battery for upcoming electric vehicles


New reports have indicated that AUDI is building an All-Electric Vehicle (EV) which they will be branding under e-tron brand.
The battery will be designed in-house by AUDI but large scale production will taken care of by LG Chem and Samsung SDI. The EV is said to feature a range of about 300 miles or 480KM Both of the companies are one of the top players in advance battery technologies. AUDI's e-tron series had only hybrid vehicles which had not much of a use.The EV is said to be unveiled at Frankfurt Show next month. Reports indicate EV to be an SUV,in the league of Q5.

LG Chem has been supplying their battery tech to General Motors, Renault SA, and Daimler AG, while Samsung SDI supplies electric vehicle batteries to BMW and Volkswagen.

Tesla started the EV revolution by introducing Model S. It is not expensive yet it had the a range of about 380KM or about 240 miles on a single charge and that's for the base model. It ain't slow either with high end variant going from 0-60 mph in 2.8 sec that's crazy fast.
