Google began rolling out Android Wear 5.1.1 to all compatible smartwatches. After its announcement last month, the update was initially only available for the LG Watch Urbane.
Android Wear 5.1.1 brings a host of new features and improvements to Google’s wearable platform. They include always-on display and applications, new launcher and wrist gestures, heads-up notifications, the ability to draw emojis, heads-up notifications, as well as the option to change font size and lock the screen of a device.
Wi-Fi support is another hot new feature in Android Wear 5.1.1. It is important to note that the functionality will only be available on the LG Watch Urbane, Moto 360, Sony Smartwatch 3, and Samsung Gear Live.
The new update requires users to run the latest version of the Android Wear smartphone application. Google will rollout the new firmware gradually in the days and weeks ahead.
