I know, profit is key to a company but this is far too much. Even Apple has not updated their GPU lineup in MacBook Pro because the performance improvement would be 5-10% and Intel's iGPU was was becoming comparably efficient. Leaving aside all the controversies, Q4-2016 laptops should get a major boost in graphics department as laptop manufactures update their models with latest GPUs from Nvidia/AMD. Most GPUs are set to offer more than double the performance than their predecessors. For example: According to benchmarks from Asus's ROG laptops with GTX 1060 (which is same desktop chip, but for laptops). The GTX 1060 is comparable or bit more powerful than a GTX 980M which means the sub $1,500 laptops will get a major boost in performance without any change in drop in battery life or thermals.
The laptops i'm gunning for are the next update to Dell XPS 15 and Next MacBook Pro they should bring good performance improvement in a thin and light design. If you are going to buy a new laptop, maybe try to hold of until the new generation GPUs are out there. The budget gamers will also get a taste of VR gaming from the new GPUs along with that, 1080p gaming would probably become flawless on laptops. What do you think?, leave you comments below.
